The development of public access infrastructure is an essential element in supporting the quality of life within a community. Adequate access not only facilitates mobility but also serves as a foundation for the smooth functioning of daily social and economic activities.

This commitment is demonstrated through Agincourt Resources’ support for the development and improvement of public facilities that directly address community needs. One such initiative is the handover of a concrete road construction project in Wek I, Batang Toru, which serves as a primary access route for residents in carrying out their daily activities, particularly farming and other economic mobility.

The presence of a safer and more reliable road provides improved accessibility, while also enhancing comfort and safety for the community in their day-to-day activities.

In addition to road infrastructure, Agincourt Resources also places strong emphasis on public facilities that play an important role in the social and spiritual life of the community. This support is reflected in the renovation of the dome and terrace of Masjid Al-Ittihad in Bandar Hapinis Village.

This renovation forms part of the continuation of the Community Development Programme (PPM), following the company’s earlier support for the construction of the mosque. The enhancement of these worship facilities is expected to improve comfort for worshippers and support religious as well as social activities within the village.

These two initiatives reflect Agincourt Resources’ holistic approach to developing public access, focusing not only on physical infrastructure, but also on social spaces that strengthen community cohesion and well-being. Improved road access facilitates mobility and economic activity, while well-maintained places of worship serve as centres for social and spiritual engagement that foster stronger community ties.

For Agincourt Resources, support for the development of public access is not merely a form of corporate social responsibility, but part of a long-term commitment to promoting inclusive development. By strengthening community accessibility and stimulating local economic activity, the company aims to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of life of communities surrounding its operational areas.

Agincourt Resources places strong emphasis on education, as it is the fundamental foundation for developing future generations who are competent, competitive, and of strong character. Through quality education, human potential can be developed optimally and contribute positively to regional and national progress.

This commitment is demonstrated through sustained support for the education sector, focused on two main pillars: enhancing access to education through scholarship programmes, and the provision and improvement of educational facilities and infrastructure that are safe, adequate, and conducive to effective teaching and learning activities.

One tangible form of this support is the renovation of the Auditorium and Buildings of Universitas Graha Nusantara Padangsidimpuan (UGNP). This renovation is expected to support a wide range of academic activities, including graduation ceremonies and other institutional events, in line with the continued development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at UGNP.

Beyond higher education, Agincourt Resources also consistently supports the improvement of educational facilities and infrastructure at the primary and secondary education levels in areas surrounding its operations. This support is realised through the construction and renovation of educational facilities at various locations, including the renovation of female dormitory toilet facilities at Yayasan Faza Azkia, the construction of a multipurpose hall and musalla at SMK Negeri 1 Marancar, and the improvement of facilities and infrastructure at SMA Negeri 1 Batang Toru, such as school fencing, classrooms, sanitation facilities, and utility networks. In addition, new classrooms have been constructed at SDS Taman Siswa Sumuran, along with the provision of proper classroom facilities at MDA Bustanur Rahmah, Perkebunan Batang Toru.

All these programmes are implemented collaboratively with schools, foundations, and relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the benefits are optimally received by beneficiaries and contribute to the creation of a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment.

Through this approach, Agincourt Resources views education not merely as a social responsibility, but as a long-term investment in sustainable human development. By integrating support for educational access with strengthened infrastructure, the company aims to contribute to the development of future generations who are well prepared to face the challenges ahead. This commitment to education forms part of Agincourt Resources’ efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable development, while also strengthening synergy with communities and stakeholders in areas surrounding the company’s operational sites.

Indonesia’s tropical rainforests are widely recognised as some of the most biodiverse regions in the world. However, behind this natural wealth, forests are facing increasing pressure due to land-use change and habitat degradation. These conditions threaten not only trees, but also the survival of wildlife that depend on forests for food and shelter. One forest plant that plays an important role in maintaining this ecological balance is the forest rambutan (Nephelium cuspidatum).

Forest rambutan is a native fruit tree that grows naturally in the tropical rainforests of Sumatra and Kalimantan. It is commonly found in lowland forests and hilly areas that remain relatively well preserved. Because its presence is closely linked to healthy environmental conditions, forest rambutan is often used as a natural indicator of forest ecosystem health. The greater the diversity of natural food trees, the higher the chances for wildlife to survive.

In appearance, forest rambutan differs from cultivated rambutan commonly found in markets. Its flesh is thinner, yet it still contains the energy and water required by wildlife. During the fruiting season, forest rambutan becomes an important food source for a wide range of animals, including birds, fruit-eating bats, primates, and other tree-dwelling mammals.

These animals play a vital role not only as consumers of the fruit, but also as natural seed dispersers. Forest rambutan seeds that are carried and dropped away from the parent tree have the opportunity to grow into new trees. This natural process supports forest regeneration and helps maintain ecosystem structure and balance over the long term.

For orangutans (Pongo), forest rambutan is considered a valuable food source, particularly during periods of abundant fruit availability. Orangutans consume the fruit flesh as a source of carbohydrates and fluids to meet their daily energy needs. The remaining seeds are then discarded in different locations, contributing to effective and natural seed dispersal.

Beyond its role as a food source, the forest rambutan tree is also an important component of orangutan habitat. Its relatively dense canopy and strong branches support orangutan activities, as these animals spend most of their lives moving and living in the trees. The presence of large trees such as forest rambutan allows orangutans to travel safely from one tree to another without descending to the ground.

As part of its commitment to environmental and wildlife conservation, Agincourt Resources cultivates forest rambutan (Nephelium cuspidatum) at the company’s nursery facilities. The seedlings produced are used to support habitat rehabilitation and restoration activities, particularly in areas that have experienced disturbance.

This effort aims to ensure the long-term availability of natural food trees for orangutans and other wildlife. In addition, replanting forest rambutan helps strengthen the ecological functions of the landscape surrounding the company’s operational areas, ensuring that it continues to support environmental balance.

The conservation of forest rambutan is an integral part of ecosystem-based wildlife conservation efforts. The loss of food trees due to forest damage can have a direct impact on wildlife survival. Therefore, the protection of natural forests, the restoration of degraded areas, and the replanting of native food tree species such as forest rambutan must continue to be promoted as a collective effort to safeguard the future of Indonesia’s tropical forests.

In modern mining operations, hydrocarbons play a vital role in supporting daily operational activities. Various types of hydrocarbons, including diesel fuel for heavy equipment, lubricating oils, grease, and hydraulic fluids, can be likened to the “lifeblood” that keeps operational systems running smoothly. Without these materials, mining activities would be difficult to carry out effectively and efficiently.

Despite their essential role, hydrocarbons also present significant potential risks if not properly managed. Fuel spills, oil leaks, or improper waste handling can lead to environmental pollution and pose hazards to worker safety. For this reason, hydrocarbon management is a key element in the implementation of responsible mining practices.

Use of Hydrocarbons in Operational Activities

At Agincourt Resources, hydrocarbons are used across various operational areas, ranging from heavy equipment refuelling stations and maintenance workshops to facilities for storing fuel, lubricants, and other supporting chemical materials. Each stage of use carries the potential risk of spills, leaks, or contamination.

If these risks are not effectively managed, their impacts may be directly felt by the surrounding environment, affecting soil, surface water, and groundwater. This is why hydrocarbon management is not merely a matter of regulatory compliance, but also a reflection of the Company’s commitment to environmental protection and long-term operational sustainability.

Prevention as a Core Principle

Effective hydrocarbon management is fundamentally based on the principle of prevention. Fuel and lubricant storage is carried out in specially designed facilities that meet safety standards. These facilities are typically equipped with secondary containment systems—additional structures designed to contain liquids in the event of a leak, preventing environmental contamination.

In operational areas, refuelling activities are conducted in a controlled manner, supported by clear procedures and adequate supervision. In addition, routine inspections of tanks, pipelines, hoses, and distribution equipment are essential to detect potential leaks at an early stage, before they develop into environmental incidents.

Preparedness in Incident Response

In addition to preventive measures, preparedness for incident response is an important aspect of hydrocarbon management. Areas with potential hydrocarbon exposure are ideally equipped with emergency response equipment, such as spill kits or other spill response tools.

Workers assigned to these areas are provided with training on the safe and proper handling of hydrocarbon spills. A prompt and coordinated response can limit the affected area, reduce further environmental risks, and protect worker safety. Every spill incident, regardless of scale, is recorded and evaluated as a learning opportunity to improve future management systems.

Management of Hydrocarbon-Contaminated Waste

Another critical aspect is the management of waste contaminated with hydrocarbons. Materials such as soil, cleaning cloths, absorbent sand, or contaminated equipment components must not be treated as general waste. Such waste is classified as Hazardous and Toxic Waste, meaning waste that, due to its characteristics and concentration, can pose risks to the environment and human health.

The management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste includes proper segregation, secure temporary storage, clear labelling, and transportation and treatment by licensed parties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Discipline in managing this type of waste is a key indicator of a mature and effective environmental management system.

Commitment to Responsible Mining Practices

For Agincourt Resources, hydrocarbon management is an integral part of its commitment to Good Mining Practice and the implementation of an environmental management system. While detailed technical aspects of internal procedures are not publicly disclosed, principles of pollution control, environmental risk prevention, and waste management are consistently applied throughout operational activities.

In the context of mining operations located near areas of high ecological value, a precautionary approach to hydrocarbon management becomes increasingly important to maintain a balance between operational activities and environmental protection.

Protecting the Environment for Future Generations

Ultimately, hydrocarbon management is not solely about regulatory compliance, but a reflection of corporate responsibility towards the environment and surrounding communities. Through careful planning, high operational discipline, and an environmentally conscious work culture, the risks associated with hydrocarbon use can be minimised. For Agincourt Resources, effective hydrocarbon management forms an essential foundation to ensure that today’s mining activities do not leave an environmental burden for future generations.
